Many people tried to help the Bosnian people escape this horrific event in history. The United Nations established a War Crimes Tribunal to investigate allegations of human rights violations and crimes committed during the war. Many relief efforts were directed towards the Bosnian refugees. The UN High Commission for Refugees along with numerous other non-governmental organizations attempted to sustain the victims with basic supplies including: food, clothing, and other essential supplies. Others focused on medical care and supplies necessary for industry and development. Several groups from the U.S. initiated programs of psychological assistance by training healthcare professionals in dealing with effects of the war. Although there were many people trying to help, not everyone's needs could be met due to lack of funds, and lack of interest from outsiders.
